‘A Bright New Day’ felt like a celebration as I painted it. I originally began this piece in my studio at the beginning of September. I finished it this Saturday, as a painting demonstration I did at the Art Festival for Cochrane Culture Days. What a wonderful weekend of art! My booth was under the big tent in downtown Cochrane and I loved visiting with all the artists and festival-goers. The sun was warm and bright, trees and landscape dressed in their fall finery, and folks were in such jovial, lighthearted moods. It was an absolute delight to finish painting this floral while I was there. I was particularly honoured to hear that Ms Heather Klimchuk, Minister of Culture had stopped by my booth and admired this piece. I know each time I look at ‘A Bright New Day’, it will bring back many special memories. It was, indeed, a bright new day full of promise, inspiration and friendship.

Special thanks to all the administrators and volunteers of the Arts & Culture Foundation of Cochrane (ACFC), who coordinated and worked at the event. It was such a pleasure to be a part of the weekend. And thank you to all who stopped by my booth, shared warm compliments on my paintings and visited with me. You all are yet another reason why I paint. Take care, Cheryl.
